Campus Life
The University of Helsinki is entirely located in the center of Helsinki and has four main campuses. The rapid growth and revenue of the university from the 1930s lead to the foundation of other areas.
City Centre Campus: Initially the historical City Centre Campus was the hub of all activities of the university and then, in the early 19th century, it moved from Turku to Helsinki. This campus houses the Faculties of Technology, Arts, Science, Social Science, Law and administrative activities. It extends around the historical center of Helsinki, Senate Square and Kruununhaka city district and is the heart of the University of Helsinki. The buildings of the university consist of major architectural significance that ranges from dominating Neo-Classical to Modernism of the 20th century.
Kumpula Campus: This campus is located four kilometers north of the center of Helsinki and houses the Faculty of Science and the Department of Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geography, Geoscience and Physics. The Kumpula Campus mainly comprises two parts: The Botanical Garden, surrounded by the old building stocks of Kumpula Manor and modern building stocks located nearby to the north of the manor. The greenness of the campus makes the campus dynamic that stands out as a distinctive and unique complex. This campus provides research and study facilities to around 6,000 students and 1,000 teachers.
Meilahti Campus: This campus is a part of the Meilahti Hospital District located at the edge of the city center. Founded in the 1930s, the campus houses the Faculty of Medicine. The campus facilities include the teaching and research center Biomedicum and the National Library of Health Sciences. It also houses various research institutes like Neuroscience Center (NC), Minerva Foundation Institute for Medical Research and Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM). The Meilahti Campus is the workplace for around 2,000 students and 1,500 teachers.
Viikki Campus: Located in the semi-suburban greenspace of the Viikki area, this campus houses the Faculties of Forestry and Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy and Bioscience. The campus is also known as the "green campus" or "bioscience campus". The campus mainly houses students and researchers of science who work in a variety of fields including veterinary medicine, food science and environmental science.

Apartments: Residences for the students in apartments are available in the Capital Region of the university with all essential facilities.
Housing for International Bachelor’s and Master’s students: The University of Helsinki provides safer and easier housing facilities to international students of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees during their studies.
Housing for incoming visiting students: For the visiting students the university offers housing in furnished Unihome apartments, Hoas apartments, Forenom student apartments and other open market housing options.
Housing for incoming exchange students: The university offers housing for exchange students who are coming from an official exchange program.
