Samarkand University (Uzbekistan) Sees Rapid Rise in MBBS Indian Students as Ukraine Closes Door due to War
Samarkand University which is a 93-year-old university in Uzbekistan seeing an exponential rise in MBBS aspirants as the war closes Ukraine's door to Indian students.
In 2021, the public universities in Uzbekistan were receiving around 100 to 150 students from India which will increase up to 3,000 in 2023. Ukraine has accommodated more than 1,000 Indian students who have enrolled in various universities in the country and have left their courses midway.
Dr Zafar Aminov, Vice Chancellor, of Samarkand University said “ As the number of MBBS students is increasing from India, we are arranging adequate accommodations to ensure that students are not facing any kind of discomfort.” he added that “We have hired around 40 teachers this year from India. However, we offer teachings in English but we want Indian students not to face any difficulties in accent throughout the education period.”
