Study Abroad Spending Could Reach US$70 Billion for Indian Outbound Students by 2025
Currently the direct spending to study abroad by Indian outbound students has been pegged at US$47 billion and predicted to reach US$70 billion by 2025. The figure of spending includes total tuition fees, accommodation and other living expenses.
The mobility of Indian students to study abroad in 2023 has reported a rapid increase from a massive market of India. According to the reports the number of Indian students was just 1 million in 2019 that could reach between 1.5 and 2 million by 2025.
The "big four" destinations are study in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia account for a large portion of outbound mobility, according to ICEF Monitor, a specialised market information resource for the international education sector. According to the authors' estimates, there were approximately 850,000 Indian students enrolled in 2023 across the four host countries, with a total enrollment value of just under US$34 billion. Roughly half of the total amount is allocated to tuition costs, with the remaining portion going towards living expenses.
This data highlights the popularity of these countries as the best education destinations. Most of the Indian students choose to study in the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia.
